SPEAKING OF HELL HOLES

July 29, 2019

The American President presents himself as a big-brained expert, and in one arena, I bow to his expertise.  Hell holes.

He knows Florida well with its hurricanes, gators, low altitude just waiting for rising sea levels, pythons, iguana hunters, flesh-eating bacteria…and now, wait for it, deadly skeeter-spread virus.

In glorious Palm Beach County some federal housing there has residents whose children are being bitten by rats…and they also get to run their fingers through mold on the walls.

If that isn’t hellish enough, throw in some rat lung-worm, why don’t you?  Top it off, or bottom it out, with Mara-Lego and all those rich golfers…we’re talking serious hell hole, right Mr. President?

MODERN ECONOMICS: FAITH OR FICTION?

July 26, 2019

What economists have in common with 13th Century Catholic priests?  Blind beliefs.

Here’s a nice rundown of the things that macro-economics has been based on for decades.

Then there is the great underlying fallacy of modern economics that our species is capable or or desirous of acting in a rational, anti-emotional way, especially about money and survival.  That somehow the body and mind are separate.  Economists don’t understand or want to know about modern studies of animal behavior it seems.  We, and other mammals and birds, act through a necessary combination of emotion and reason.  In fact, we cannot have one without the other.  One case study of a man who suffered brain damage that destroyed the emotive center in his brain…he could understand everything perfectly, describe the choices and possible outcomes, yet he found it almost impossible to make a decision.  There was no emotional weight.   Read Momma’s Last Hug and you lose all patience with the blatant infantile thought of economics…divorced from the reality of mammalian behavior.  Serious daily concerns like fairness, sharing or selfishness, co-operation, compromise, will to power–these are part of our physical being and our DNA.  To pretend that an individual is separate from the society, that the brain is not dependent on emotion–fantasy.

TRUMP MAY BE THE IMMIGRANT’S OFFSPRING WHO NEVER INTEGRATED INTO A DEMOCRATIC AMERICA

Click here for that argument cogently explained.  Of course, there is no way modern Germany would welcome the Trump Family now.
